The song is OK, SFC William Farrell, but the Ballad of the Green Berets is still the best of Sadler's songs. I noticed that on the album cover of your video he's wearing the flash and SSI of the USAIMA, which tracks with his unit assignments on Together We Served (TWS). However, in his first album cover [released also in 1966, but earlier (photo attached)], he's wearing the flash of the 7th SFG(A), yet his TWS profile indicates that he was assigned to subordinate elements of the 5th SFG(A). Can't figure that out, but I'm sure someone knows.
I've posted my photo of his grave on RP before. SSG Sadler is buried in the Nashville National Cemetery and I've paid my respects there more than once.

The Ballad of the Green Berets is my all time favorite LTC Stephen C.. And to believe it was a number one single back in its day. Can you imagine that happening today? Thanks for the headstone picture, I haven't seen that before. And the album cover, that is the one I had and tossed it a few years ago when I got a digital version. Should have kept it. Who knows what happened with the flashes he was wearing. If I ever make it to Nashville, Ill have to check it out. And thank you for paying your respect to a man who made a difference.

SFC William Farrell, during SF Phase 1 at Camp Mackall (spring 1970), whenever we were in a classroom environment (map reading, etc.), the instructors would bring us to attention and make us sing the Ballad of the Green Berets. It was really kind of funny, but I didn't see anyone laughing!
Back then, all SF instructors wore the white flash of SFTG. Here's what the flash looked like, and also a photo MOH recipient COL Ola Lee Mize (now deceased) wearing the white flash. SFC George Smith MSgt George Cater CSM Richard StCyr CPL Roy Tanner SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth

LTC Stephen C. - Thanks Sir. Surprisingly I have never heard of Col Mize. Ive read about many of the MH recipients but he escapes me. Reading about him now. By the way, I liked those old khaki uniforms. Had a few of them myself!

SFC William Farrell, I actually met COL Mize in early 1972 (January or February). He was not tall and was slight of build, but in the old cotton OD fatigues, he always looked sharp. Despite being somewhat small in stature, even in his later years, he was quite intimidating, and if he was walking the halls, people scattered!

I had both albums back in the 60's. Played them so much, I can still sing along without seeing lyrics.
I remember being somewhat confused that Sadler was prior Air Force by his ribbons.
The second album was mostly country type songs unrelated to war.
