This is supposed to be tax free and not part of your income even for that...but yes, I am sure those rates are going up at least that much

If you use the VA for your health benefits, you don't have to use Medicare.

True. But not enrolling in Medicare is a hugely personal calculation with many ramifications, especially for folks who travel or live in certain areas, etc.
