I always get a kick out of Christmas. George Washington was able to defeat the Hessian’s because they were hung over from celebrating Christmas. Christmas was very low key in the colonies because Protestants considered celebrating Christmas as “ Papish” and most Protestants were very anti Catholic. Just one of the ironies concerning Christmas

Fascinating isn't it. Americans always do things their own way...usually BIG...think of Halloween (in Europe) or Hanukkah (very low key in Israel) but not here

More great History LtCol. Charlie Brown, when I was my Grandfather would tell us that Christmas was started in Germany and the gift giving was always something that they made by hank.
