Lt Col Charlie Brown A B- and now it became the national flag standard! How many on here remember the 48 and 49 star flags in their classroom?

I remember them and actually had gone to Kindergarten in Hawaii when it was still a Territory in the early 1950s as My Da was in the US Navy then a stationed at Pearl Harbor Navel Station. In the 1971 to 1974 time period I was in the US Air Force and stationed at Hickam AFB, HI and atteded both Honolulu Community College and the University of Hawaii. The were also some 45 RPM records My parent had while it was still a territory that said 49th State Record Company upon the record label . although Hawaii ended up being the 50th State in 1959 they did want statehood and made that very clear.

Grow ing up in Ohio I remember that story from the Second grade close to the end of school year. It impressed me that a kid was first to come up with the staggered pattern.
