Minnesota voters want to oust Democratic attorney general Keith Ellison, according to a new poll, a sign that the blue state is souring on the "defund the police" movement. Voters favor Ellison’s Republican challenger Jim Schultz by more than 3 points, a Trafalgar Group poll released last week found. Ellison, a former deputy Democratic National Committee chairman, has stoked anti-cop sentiment since taking office in 2019. If elected, Schultz would be Minnesota’s first Republican attorney general since 1967.

I drove end to end on Lake Street about 2 years ago, a few months after the George Floyd murder. That was the core of a very vibrate neighborhood of various Asian, Jamaican, African American, Eastern European, and other diverse businesses and restaurants. Every window, door, and electric sign had been smashed and every building looted for a stretch of nearly 2 miles From Nicollet to Hiawatha. There were clusters of burned-out buildings at either end of that strip. Coupled with the development of "Murderapolis" over the same time frame, Minnesota may well be ready for a law-and-order administration.

We lived about a mile south of Lake Street while I was at RG Snelling for 4 years. I was heartsick at what they had done to that neighborhood.
