Lt Col Charlie Brown Good news for our people in uniform but still not keeping up with inflation. I guess something is better than nothing.

Thank you my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown for posting.
My military retiree pay raise is 8.7% for 2023.
"Military retirees and disabled veterans will see their monthly checks increase by 8.7% for 2023, thanks to an annual adjustment to the federal Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) due to inflation."

Remember the "enjoy it now; enjoy it later" approach!

Take 50% of whatever the pay hike you get and "enjoy it now" and put the other 50% into whatever long-term saving approach you have so you can "enjoy it later".

You won't miss what you don't have - if you don't start relying on the 50% you put away for the future, then you won't get used to spending it.

COL Randall C. Important points in reviewing personal financial status. Also to help with inflation cost the Military has given the advice that follows: Food Stamps Guidance: Fight Inflation By Applying For SNAP. The Military has formulated a battle plan against the ongoing advance of inflation, and it involves advising troops to arm themselves with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

IMHO it's good to have it available but sad that it's needed.
