Sometimes these old duffer-types feel they are entitled to special privileges and can act like jerks with impunity because of their age. This gives all us old duffer-types a bad name. Next time the old gal should be briefed by her husband or family on what she can and can't carry on aircraft. Don't get mad at TSA get mad at Islamic terrorists who are using our own freedoms to fight US and doing a good job of sandpapering our butts.

Capt., I realize that this well after your post but: enter the ... "old duffer" who within days of the Yousef (shoe bomber) attempt in 2001, was told that he must remove his shoes then reached across the roller table, grabbed the young officer working there by the shirt collar, pulled him closer then spit in his face. This done in front of a long line of passengers. Sure, law enforcement was called and everyone was inconvenienced by his temper tantrum, but in the end... NOTHING happened other than a meeting with all TSOs with their Fed. Security Director (FSD), AFSD, and two screening managers.the officer in question was asked to stay after all of his co workers left the meeting End of that meeting resulted, well... in nothing. It was just pretty much dismissed as a "stubborn old coot" acting out. The Officer left TSA within a year of the incident. Bottom line, Thank you Sir for being a thinking man.
