It should never have been allowed, in the first place.

Seriously? This is an issue?? I did 43 months in combat with the 82nd between 2003-2010. Not once were we ever allowed a cell phone. You were lucky to get in line for a phone and able to call an operator to call a number for you. God forbid you get a voicemail. Eventually you could call with your computer and hope it worked. Focus on the mission and not being able to check your social media or being able to post that the DFAC didn’t live up to your expectations. Be glad you aren’t eating T-Rats brown eggs and sausage and not getting access other than letters at yoI small base in East Paktikea.

Good, no need for troops to compromise operations due to unintentional incidentes. Some folks forget that any electronic device can be tampered off.

Sir, one BN of these paratroopers were wheels up in 18hrs from the moment they were notified on New Year’s Day, and the others within 72hrs. Pretty difficult on the families... Units have been balancing PEDs and OPSEC for sometime now.

Not as difficult as having a tragedy downrange from a SIGINT problem with smuggled cell call home ...
