Good article. However, it's missing one of the best free resources, freecodecamp.com . It's an online 'coding bootcamp' that is truly free. As Executive Director of Code Platoon (an in-person non-profit coding bootcamp for veterans), we require all of our applicants to complete a portion of Free Code Camp.

Thanks for the tip Rod. I just signed up for freecodecamp.com. I'm curious to see what coding is like and if it's something that I can be passionate about.

And by the way, my kids are 6 and 4; any resource you recommend for them to start their coding journey?

For kids, lots of resources. Khan academy is great, but lots options which can be overwhelming. For young kids, https://scratch.mit.edu/ is really good.

You can also look into whether or not your employer or university has paid access to training resources. I'm picking at a course in C++ right now through Lynda.com that seems pretty good through my university's subscription.
