The Night of the Long Knives when the SA was decimated by Himmler's SS and Gestapo. The leader of the SA Ernst Röhm was homosexual which didn't help his situation with the Nazi leadership moving to power. Many SA members were killed during Operation Hummingbird; but, Ernst Julius Günther Röhm was shot without trial the next day on July 1, 1934 in Stadelheim Prison, Munich, Germany.

Rough Night for Ernst Rohm, He probably shouldn't have returned from South America. He would have always been considered competition for Hitler. Ernst wasn't as cozy with the Industrialist so Killing Him gets you in good with Big Business and Ernst Being Gay Killing him gets you in Good with the Conservative Christian Base in Germany.
