9 Years Into Common Core, Test Scores Are Down, Indoctrination Up

Common Core has its place, but it's not the place for all students. There's math and then there's Math. Most children will never use Math. They will never use more than the basic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide). Indeed, all of accounting is adding and subtracting debits and credits. Simple skills are best learned simply. Common Core is valuable in preparing students for higher mathematics. Number theory, sets, and the advanced forms of trigonometry, calculus, etc prepare students for STEM courses. Cramming all students into Common Core classes is akin to hammering square pegs into round holes
