What the original argument (posited by liberal media such as the Nation.com) was the case that woman didn't have a copy of her birth certificate and the hospital required her to pay a fee to get a copy. The argument was that people don't have to pay a fee to vote. Very liberal thinking considering that she lost her birth certificate in the first place and that there are other acceptable documents you can use to register such as a drivers license, state ID card and unexpectedly, if you have none of these, you just need to provide the last 4 of your social security number.
