My Mom has been suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia for almost 3 years now. She is pretty far gone and doesn't really know who most of us are any more. It is a tough disease in that you must lose the your loved one slowly, day by day until they no longer know you and then at the end you lose them physically when they pass away.
I would not want to go that way and hope they can find a way to cure this disease but until they do, living longer lives exposes more to the likelihood of Alzheimer's and dementia.
It is also very expensive care as someone must be with them all the time. Memory care units are more common that ever but they are very pricey.
