The War to End All Wars.
Too bad that was not true.
Millions died in that war. They were fighting with modern weapons such as the machine gun, with pre-1900 tactics. Line up and charge. Not good tactics.
I am presently reading "To The Last Man" by Jess Shaara. A very interesting fictional novel about WWI. He has a great capability to put a face to those men who fought our wars. from Revolutionary days to Korea.
For those not familiar with the term, fictional novels are written about actual historical people and events, just with added conversations between the individuals and some events, not distracting from the actual events.
Shaara is a master at this.
