I love physical fitness but it looks like the Marine Corps and the Army are going to have retention problems with their new fitness test that they want to implement.

This I believe is a definite concern within the different services. It has been a concern because even with current testing, the younger military member is coming in to service without the proper level of physical fitness. Granted some work really hard to achieve great physical fitness levels. However, society and the ever changing world is a huge factor. Having almost zero requirement for physical fitness in all levels of schools does not help at all. Eating out with all this junk food and fast foot definitely does not promote overall physical fitness either. I believe physical fitness and buying into how to live a healthier lifestyle will play a big role into future challenges of making a more lethal fighting force than our adversaries.

Active Duty have the time. I am in the USAR and I work for UPS so I do get exercise as a delivery driver. I was at a planning conference this week. An E8 just came back from an army certification course for the new Army Combat Fitness test. The new test will be given for diagnostic but the old APFT will be given for record and two ACFT will be given for diagnostic each year. I can score 285/300 on the old system. I will just want to pass the ACFT. We will have retention problems.

Yes sir I agree, as I have already heard multiple soldiers state that this is their last enlistment due to the new PT test being incorporated. It is the sad truth.

SGT(P) (Join to see) no more profiles means a lot of leadership were going to go away as well. It will definitely be a Hollow military.

I completed NCO School at OCS Quantico late 1979. The PT Instructor was a Royal Marine Colour Sergeant (Brown). He could burn you out quickly in Table PT.

So OCS still uses a a Royal Marine PTI. When I was at Quantico, I got to watch him instruct a couple of times. They are definitely great at their jobs.

Correction: I believe it was pre-Spring 1980. I know there was ice in the creeks and The Quigley.
