Right wing soldiers have been part of the German armies since long before Germany was created in 1871 SSG Shavonde Chase. Of course the left-wing NY times is railing against pro-Nazis in Germany as Germany is facing increasing crime from the immigrants who came in ostensibly as refugees.
When I was a cadet at USMA, West Point we had to be familiar with everything on the front page. I have been receiving NY Times news feeds for over a decade and I generally take their editorial comments with a large grain of salt.
Germany like the US Military has long had security clearing requirements designed to stop radical right and radical right devotees from coming into the military. In the past few decades religious fervor has become an interested for security investigators.
