I remember a number of years back how the Army was separating people for "Failure to adjust" instead of Med sep for PTSD. It was cheaper for the Army and the VA in the long run.
Reading this story and a few others it seems the Army is back to its old tricks. Instead of dealing with the issue they throw the individual under the bus and leave them twisting in the wind. One RP member Blames Obama but truth is this has been going on for decades. The Brass don't want to address the problem because they know what the solution is already. Less Deployments for those in War zones, That means more money spent on training troops while Washington is trying to cut costs. It also means more medical for Troops and that again is more money they don't have.
I once had a someone call me a Dixie cup, always there always handy but once used and spent they get thrown away. That is how WE the Military members are. We will be used up till there is nothing more of us. We are brought out for Parades and meetings shown around like trinkets and then ignored when we request help.... I know it is a bleak point of view and people ask why do we server, the answer to that is Because we BELIEVE in America and what it stood for. We Believe it will Stand strong again.

This is upsetting but this is only one side of the story. I find it hard to believe they would discipline him for seeking out help. Until the whole picture is revealed I'd be hesitant to believe what's in this article.

You may think so. But long ago, 1980, I was required to undergo "psychological assessment" because I volunteered for Submarine duty. The tech typed up a report and forwarded it to my CoC. I found out when my Senior Chief (who didn't like me anyway) asked why I didn't feel challenged at my current position. That's when I found out that the military health care does NOT care about the patient but the institution.
Did this happen? I do NOT know, I wasn't there. Do I know of indicators that show it could? YES.
