I don't know if the headline is true about the fat, but the report the article cites to make the point is meaningless with regard to fat as it uses BMI without considering percentage of body mass made up by fat. Using BMI without considering body composition is not realistic, especially for soldiering.

There was an E-6 Drill Sergeant when I was in BT got busted down to E-2 on the spot by the Commander of the Post for making his trainees call him "Drill Sergeant"!

That is just plain stupid. When I went through BT, we all called ours Drill Sergeant Smith, Drill Sergeant Brown, Drill Sergeant Ervin and Drill Sergeant Banagas. Yes still remember their names

The commander of the post has an authority problem. In the Corps, I never saw that happen and when I was an instructor at San Diego, rank was mostly used. That E-6 should've requested mast and had that taken care of and expunged from his record.
