My guess is the veggie burger MRE is one step above waterboarding on the interrogation flow chart.

I've never had an MRE but I've heard some stories about them. Something on the lines of not having the General's Chicken.

Chili Mac, and just about any MRE from Menu B box, Menu A had most of the crap ones. I never had A good one from the old REG Dark Brown MRES, the old first gen's we had in Storm. The worst one was the Omelet.

Those all sounded like gourmet meals compared to the crap MREs we had between 85 and 93.

Cpl Kenneth Darby - They didn't come in the GEN 1 we got heat tabs during storm was up with 1ST recon on border and they had some. You had to get them from supply, I think it was a testing thing, they sucked. You puled out of pack and opened they would heat up when exposed to Air. After that they came out with second GEN around 1992 with heater pack in them not the tabs. I carried stern also, not in Storm couldn't get any, but the tabs were some what like stern, This could have been because we were with Recon and they may have been selected to test the tabs.

Cpl Kenneth Darby - I love Sterno, and that should be pretty high on a survival list. When did our FEX's, I would stoke up with small Chef Boyardee cans in my "ALICE" pack and use some of those so I didn't eat the old Dark Brown MRE'S.

This the heat tabs we used, like I said we were attached with a Recon element and they had them. Then when we went back to our unit and asked S4 about tabs guess what they had thousands of them.The problem was they didn't know they needed to give them to the cooks to issue out with MRE's. This could be same wit you guy's right doesn't talk to left hand, sounds like politics.

I didn't make it into the gulf until sep 91. Those 2nd gens didn't make it to our group or if they did, they were limited release.
