Thanks for sharing LTC (Join to see). It reminds me that my paternal grandfather served as a British Army lance corporal first at Gallipoli, Turkey and later in the trench warfare of France and Belgium. Somewhere along the way he was wounded. Since the building housing enlisted records from WWI was largely destroyed during the Blitz on London which was part of the Battle of Britain, we don't know where he fought and when and where he was wounded. Like many veterans of the Great war and WWII he didn't talk about his wartime experiences.
He and his brother who served with him survived WWII. His brother sister-in-law were killed when a bomb hit their southern England home. Their children survived in large part due to wartime training which taught them where to hide during an air raid.
If my paternal grandfather had been killed, my father and his sister would not have been born and their combined seven children, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchildren would not exist.

It's amazing how one event transposes the future in so many different ways. The butterfly effect?

Believe it or not our Caniadian Brothers helped out a lot during WWI but that was never taught in history classes in schools. It's sad.

I live in Canada and I am learning so much. It was not excluded just the author only has so much space. The movie Passendale is also about the battle of Passendale.
