I would hope that the ruling party here, aka the GOP, reflects on its role here. Yes, I know, I know. People are going to jump on me, saying it's the Democrats fault, all of them liberals were the ones that caused all of this, it's them God-less people's fault, why they're going to take my guns away from me (which is pure BS btw), they're baby killers! Sigh.
But it takes two to tango. The two parties need to work together, regardless of what the past is. That's what leadership is all about. People need to learn from history, and stop blaming everyone else for their woes, put a line in the sand and move forward from that point on. Discuss, collaborate, and look at compromise as an option. Each side has its strengths and minuses. Focus on the strengths, people!
