As a former Safety guy I see both sides of this story. I can certainly understand corporate policy that dictates complying with instructions of a thief(s) and doing nothing to harm them or yourself. That's the lawyer speak that just about every company has for the safety of their employees and avoidance of litigation. I don't agree with what happened to this employee however. Yes he made a conscious decision to ignore company policy and in the process prevented a robbery. I somehow doubt that corporate reaction anytime someone violates company policy is termination and suspect prohibition and/or counseling is the most likely result. A thank you for your actions but you do realize company policy when confronted with a robber is......... session makes more sense to me.
