The police officer who was killed was a Marine Corp Reserve veteran. This is a tragic event on so many levels, particularly for the 11-year old who survived.

This is especially sad for me to hear as I am a police officer and a Soldier...
We as Soldiers hold ourselves to a higher standard than our civilian peers, and when one of us goes and does something that shocks the conscious like this does, we feel it even more.
I don't care what is going in your life, taking another's life because you are upset is ridiculous....
Rest in peace Officer, we have the watch.

MAJ (Join to see) when I was a deputy sheriff-coroner I always held military members in high esteem (still do!). Later I enlisted into the Coast Guard Reserve and was called to active duty where I worked alongside LE (Hurricane Andrew, etc.). This event is like a double gut-punch.
