Actor Gary Sinise becomes Honorary Marine

I didn't hear of this either. I just re-watched Forrest Gump yesterday.

This isn't officially done very often. There is a French man that has done significant research at Belleau Woods for most of his life that finds artifacts and gets some of them (when they can be identified) back to ancestors. He also does battle field research for family members etc. and is there every year when the Marines show up for the remembrance. There is a nice Netflix documentary on him and his efforts.
