Some great memories there. He thought that was the most extreme place in Alaska. We lived there, I for 367 days, it was just duty in a cool location to me.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - But don’t leave it at your Division cabin, it’ll freeze. My windows looked out on the other other building and the road to the receiver site.
The hiked all over the area behind the receiver site, found an engine from the WWII plane crash, and climbed the mountain once. Tundra stomping, we called it, even though we didn’t hurt it at all, and you had to watch for sinkholes/undercut water channels (we had a name for them, I just can’t remember it).

I remember the caribou I shot staggered out into a lake and dropped. Only saw the paddles. So I stripped down and pulled it out. The weather was a rare warm and not windy. Interesting thing is if you only eat caribou for protein you'll be malnourished as the meat lacks certain amino acids we all need.

CAPT Kevin B. Interesting, Didn't Know That. I Do Remember it Being Rather Tasty Though.
