Yes I remember it well being one of those among that 'surge' I was pulled from the field during an otherwise routine predeployment training cycle and was on my way in 2 days with the 26th Marines. They sucked up people of all stripes and colors, some just back from deployments, even a refrigerator repair man in my platoon. People who had never seen each other before were suddenly thrust into units and sent into combat without any unit training. What a horrible fiasco along with many other aspects of that war.. Learn on the job as they say..

Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that on February 13, 1968 as an emergency measure in response to the 1968 communist Tet Offensive, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara approved the deployment of 10,500 troops to cope with threats of a second offensive.
