Advocating for violence in a campaign ad might get attention, but will it get votes?

No doubt this was designed to get attention. I believe this was also tongue in cheek. The result, however, will be that a minority of people will see this as a call to arms and someone will be hurt if not killed. There is entirely too much of this kind of talk in our society today. Taking guns away from law abiding citizens doesn't reduce the level of crime. It is also hard to argue that the high level of guns has made us any safer since our statistics in regard to gun violence leave us alone when compared to the rest of the world. I have a concealed carry permit and support the right of people to own weapons. I do not think the arguments on either side of the argument address the complexities of the situation our nation finds itself in. I do not feel over burdened by having to have training to own a weapon or having to pay for and renew my permit every 5 years for a modest sum. There are people who shouldn't own weapons. There are some in my own family I would not want to have a gun. There has to be a way to screen those out without violating due process requirements.

PO1 Jeff Chandler - I agree with you to a degree. There is a difference between me saying something stupid (no one cares what I think) and when an elected leader says something stupid, left or right
