Afghan civilian deaths 'hit record high'

We can not stop them from killing each other, and the religious fanatics aren’t going any where. Sooner or later they will devolve into the 18th century living conditions. If we must interfere, do it with stand-off weapons and DON’T rebuild. Learn from the Russian experience one our long war.

Taliban kinetic activity has always been the leading source of civilian casualties...the logic never made sense to me. To show they are still "there" and can subvert the government, they blow something up. When they blow something up they kill or wound the people they are trying to control. The people get mad at the government for not protecting them...not the Taliban who caused the carnage to start with. Funhouse mirror logic. If I were an Afghan tribal leader, and wanted to be left alone, I would get two or three other neighboring leaders, and run the Taliban out of my valley. If they were denied quarter in enough river valleys, they'd go away.
