Sad news for sure for father and son!
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — An Air Force Academy cadet and his Air Force veteran father who were killed in an airplane collision in Texas will be buried at the school's cemetery in Colorado.
Freshman cadet Timothy Barber and retired Lt. Col. Greg Barber will be buried Thursday after a service at the academy chapel.
They were aboard a single-engine Luscombe 8A that collided in the air with a single-engine Piper PA-28 north of Dallas on Dec. 31. National Transportation Safety Board investigators haven't said who was at the controls.
The lone occupant of the other plane was also killed. Federal investigators haven't released that person's name.

They lived together, dreamed together, flew together and it seems very appropriate that the will be buried together TSgt Joe C.. It is sad for a child to die before a parent and it is incredibly sad for Mandy Barber who is the wife of Lt. Col. Greg Barber who is the mother of USAF Academy Freshman cadet Timothy Barber to have to bury bot her spouse and her child at the same time today at the school's cemetery in Colorado.
Prayers for Mandy barber and her sons: Franklyn and Ben and daughter: Becca as they grieve and come to terns with the loss of husband/son and father/brother.

Greg “Spanky” Barber was a retired LT Col USAF pilot, loving husband and father. He was an exceptionally accomplished and very experienced pilot. Not only was he a USAF Instructor Pilot, a Cold War Alert Pilot, a Combat Pilot, he flew U-2’s, B-52’s and T-38’s. He was the very last pilot to ever be selected to fly the SR-71 just before the program was cancelled and subsequently went on to become a U2 pilot.
Tim Barber, age 18, was on leave from the USAF Cadet Academy based in Colorado Springs spending the Christmas holidays with his family.
The Barber family is an exceptional and giving family who always puts everyone else before themselves representing the true meaning of family, friendship, loyalty, compassion, community, teamwork, and patriotism.
We will continue to honor the lives of Spanky and Tim knowing that they are now flying high with the angels."
