WASHINGTON — President Trump signed an executive order Friday allowing the Air Force to recall as many as 1,000 retired pilots to active duty to address a shortage in combat fliers, the White House and Pentagon announced.

I'd be interested in finding out why there's a shortage in the first place. I wonder if it might have something to do with something I read a few years ago that stated recruiting had fallen not because fewer young men/women wanted to enlist, but because fewer were able to due the issues this country is dealing with in regards to obesity and just noting be physically fit enough.

(a)Authority.— Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense, a member described in subsection (b) may be ordered to active duty by the Secretary of the military department concerned at any time.

(b)Covered Members.—Except as provided in subsection (d), subsection (a) applies to the following members of the armed forces:

(1) A retired member of the Regular Army, Regular Navy, Regular Air Force, or RegularMarine Corps.

Reduced pay for reduced services = Retirement = Recall to active duty..Part of the sacrifice we all signed on voluntarily..

One of the questions that needs to be addressed is why does the air force have such a severe shortage of Pilots? Why are these guys leaving the service?
