What caught my attention was the US congressional Lawmakers who chimed in "“It is our collective view that a terrible precedent would be set if services were allowed to justify sole-source acquisitions by citing a sense of urgency due in part to a failure to properly plan and execute against known requirements,” stated an April letter signed by 12 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, some of whom sit on the House Armed Services Committee." SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL after the USAF suggested using UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to replace the UH-1N "Huey."
Using the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter as the replacement aircraft makes sense from a maintenance, sparing and training aspect.
Howver i expect some of these lawmakers want an aircraft company in their district to compete for the replacement.

Just seeing the name "Huey"brings back a long string of memories,God we loved those birds, especially when you were short and hearing that distinctive "Whap,Whap,Whap of that great old chopper taking you out of the field for the last time, not even caring it was being flown by some crazy nineteen year old Warrant Officer!
