I believe the Marines just cleared a higher pay to their pilots. I'm sure the other branches will follow suit soon. Its a band-aid, though. There are other reasons they are leaving in droves.

Law of supply and demand. I have seen all sides, and from my perspective it’s a LOT better to feel like they really NEED your services and they respect your skills and the millions of (taxpayer) training dollars spent to make you “Above the Best”. Money and “perks” ARE important, but significance and job satisfaction “trumps” just a pay scale and being looked upon as “meat” (or a number). This might also work both ways. Some pilots decide to have an aviation career in both worlds, and they get into the National Guard or Reserves. I opted for the National Guard, and it worked out pretty well.

CW5 John M. My buddy reflects the same sentiment. He is trying to find a NG unit to take him so he doesn't have to go Active. The morale in the active corps is just horrid. Mainly because pilots don't feel like they are wanted. They are stuck doing gopher work instead of flying birds.
