I hope that my Air Force brethren get more than "just enough time in the cockpit to keep airmen’s skills fresh". The major item that leads to our winning aerial engagements consistently without catastrophic losses is not the technology or maintenance on our aircraft (although those two aspects are absolutely in the top three), it is the training and expertise of our pilots.
At least, that's how it appears from a grunt.

Absolutely, but I’m just a lowly Master Sergeant and it’s probably above my pay grade and don’t understand the big picture.

MSgt (Join to see) - ALRIGHT...STOP IT RIGHT THERE...There is no such thing as a lowly Master Sergeant. You are and will always be a vital cog in the Air Force Wheel. Ioughta vote you down for a comment like that!
They are way off the mark here and I believe our leadership has drank some of the readiness is marginal but ok attitude. Minimal time in cockpit is never good...not for pilots and navigators but for the planes as well. Pilots lose skill if they are out of the cockpit for a week on vacation...Planes break when they sit and aren't flying. This is not a good Idea. Plus cutting jobs now is a death punch. We have cut the epidermis and are left with scars but further cuts willhit meat and willnever be the same. Dangerous moves especially with other crazy countries doing a lot of saber rattling right now. Unfortuantely, IMHO, this admin has put the wrong focus on budgets...Even at worst the defense budget is at any given time 15% of the national budget...the remainder goes to social programs and infrastructure that have so much waste in them it isn't even funny...but we have to cut the 15% to fund other crazy woke programs...again IMHO. But when you cut flying programs you are setting a dangerous precedent for proficiency and readiness.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - I still think that MSgt (Join to see) is lowly though that is more from the attitude that many have towards member administrators (we're just a bunch of power hungry delete/ban monsters!) and not from his rank ;)
