Air Force to spend $3 billion to rebuild Tyndall AFB as ‘an installation of the future’

I didn't like the subtitle, "The Air Force just won't let go of its Panama City locale." Implying the city or Florida weather drove the (unwise) decision to rebuild Tyndall. The article never mentions why Tyndall is valuable. The runway is in fine shape, and it is adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico, with some of the largest and most-used USAF training ranges. Airspace, and the ability to test and train pilots, weapons, and tactics, are the things that make Tyndall valuable. But you'd never know it from the AF Times article.
