Air Force warns airmen against talking politics on social media

I understand the basic concept but to regulate what I may or may not say about politics on social media doesn't make me happy. If they want robots or a cloned non-thinking opinionated military member then make it happen, don't regulate what I say or do on social media. I get the concept of Opsec on social media but my opinion on politics doesn't concern the military. What do you all think?

While you are still bound by UCMJ with regards to the dos and donts of political activity by service members, you are still allowed to post your thoughts and opinions of politicians. What they are referring with regards to the Hatch Act, you cannot do so while using a government owned system.

I you represent you self a a private person political views are fine. But if you mention your military ties it gets into very questionable grounds.
Military should not side politically just follow the appointed leaders even they don’t agree with their views

"Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Seems pretty clear to me, as long as a service member isn't making claim to be an official spokesperson, then they do have freedom of speech.

If you are active duty, be careful of the way you criticize the military and civilian leadership. You can express your opinions, but keep it respectful, or you are in for it.
