It's the Oriskany the world largest artificial reef. I served on the Shangrila a sister ship to the O boat. I served on 6 different carriers. Its tough to see them go down.

It hurts to see her go down that's for sure. But to be honest it really hurts most is the ship I served on has been decommissioned and it makes me feel really old!!

when and where did they sink it...
Thought they were going to use them for artificial reefs and Divers training sights...

It was the USS AMERICA XV66 I was sunk off the coast of Hatteras in NC. less than a 100 miles from my home town. it was sunk to make the reefs you described.
