This is what happens after many years of POTUS telling the populace that the people that defend them are NOT important.

Unfortunately, it's that "ME" mentality that has them focused on one thing...get my stuff and get off the plane. In today's day and age they no longer have respect for our fallen brothers and sisters in arms.
All we can do is set the example, by either 1. Speaking up and saying please show some respect to our military family and support our fallen by staying seated. Or 2. Stay quiet, and just let the rude people go on the merry disrespectful ways.
Unless you do or say something you are part of the problem, become the solution instead.

That's typical bullshit you see people do if you spend enough time in the military. Allot of the civilian population doesn't want to be bothered with is. In 2009 coming for R&R from Afghanistan, flying into Savannah, the pilot announced that there was four service members on the plane coming home for R&R and to ease stay seated until we exited plane so we could get to our families. About half the plane stood up and grabbed their stuff. A large SSG in the back of the plane started politely tell people to sit the fuck down and get out of the way, also asked if they were deaf.

SSG (Join to see)
Yeah, when he got to my seat, he said "hey CPL, you ready to go and pushed one more civilian out of the way". We had been talking in Kuwait, me was mortuary affairs, he recognized my unit patch, and started talking to me about my friend we'd just lost. He was a cool dude
