Naw...I get it. Alabama is ‘old south’ and some things while they’ve made strides in getting better others seem to hang around like rain in FL. I’m happy she made it, and hope she serves as a leader to all especially women who have to cope with men who still see them only as sammich makers and not equals

I hate those phrases, but we see them all the time in articles about minorities and women. I think organizations are concerned that certain groups are underrepresented in their ranks and don't want to be perceived as discriminatory. I think they'd be better off not using statements like that, though.

The Alabama Guard has a new pilot. Awesome.

That should be the approach. If you don't want to seem discriminatory, then accept the right people for the job and don't reject anyone due to race.
