America's Interstate Highway System killed the railroads. Trucks became more economical than trains. However, I wonder if that's still true today. Trucks aren't nearly as fuel efficient as trains and as the cost of fuel keeps rising, someone may go back to the calculator and find that it's time to ship by train again

I agree. I don't understand why someone doesn't step up on it. I, for one, would probably take a passenger train that takes a little longer just for the relaxation, scenery, and to avoid the crap at the airports.
