Government has the power to regulate. How many of us would not want a FDA? Unrestricted drugs and food. It may not be perfect bur the consequences could be devastating.

I love this. The nanny staters cannot make up their mind. Of the large producers of eggs, the CDC estimates that somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 vaccinate their chickens, and use anti-biotics to fight amongst other things, salmonella.
Then there is a crusade for the anti-corporate outrage de jour, and antibiotics and poultry vaccination are "bad". So major producers stop vaccinating and run ads that they are gong antibiotic and vaccination free. Then the anti-corporate social outrage de jour changes and the nanny staters are off chasing some other anti-corporate outrage.
The entire issue is so much more complex than Mr. Hartmann's article. He's a dilettante that has 10% of the issue in his sights, and then he pulls the trigger; not because he gives a damn about our health, but because it is cool in his circles to be angry at free market capitalism and big business.
If you want to reduce food borne pathogens like salmonella;
_wash your hands with a basic lathering soap and hot water before you start cooking,
_wash your hands frequently and dry them, while cooking (especially after handling anything raw and moist),
_don't transfer any raw and moist contaminates to your refrigerator because your hands are dirty when you place items in the refrigerator,
_keep your toilet fixtures clean,
_wash your hands if you use the bathroom
-control flies, roaches, etc. and rodents in your home.
_don't leave anything that requires refrigeration out of the refrigerator any longer than necessary,
_make sure all the items in your refrigerator a in self-contained and sealed containers, (permanent ink "opened date" on containers of food and leftovers help), and
_get rid of the lab experiments in the refrigerator. Blue fuzz is not a decorating choice.
