How do I respond to this without going off into a rant? Let me simply warn you. Read this at your own risk! It is a piece of intellectual masturbation filled with Leftist lies and self-recrimination that is too often repeated, especially on campuses. America has made many great mistakes and suffered greatly for them. It is only natural in a society striving to achieve an ideal of individual liberty and justice for all. Once or twice we have gone to war for some woebegone cause: The Mexican-American and Spanish-American Wars fairly leap to mind. But we are not Marxists. Nor are we Nazis. We are not evil. Nor are we angels. Whatever we are and whatever we have done, this essay will not help you understand any of it.

I have only one question... Had we not gone to Iraq or Vietnam, what does the author believe would have happened instead?
