Ah my Friends "Thieving Bastards" Damn Eagles. Did a tour in Adak, AK Birthplace of the Winds, More Earthquakes than anywhere on Earth and More Eagles than People. Sitting like Vultures around the Dumpster at Chow Time, Stealing my Fish when I was fishing. I know why Benjamin Franklin preferred the Turkey as our National Bird. Actually I love eagles and was blessed to spend so much time with them and learn so much about them. The white head only appears at year 2 but a 1 year old is every bit as big as an adult. The Juveniles were always a nuisance around the Barracks and weren't the least bit afraid of humans. Also if you brought a small dog or cat to the Island, If it got out it was Eagle Food. No trees in Adak so the nests are on the ground. Rule 1 no matter how comfortable you get around them don't climb into the nest. National Geographic Photographer tried that trick, The shredded remains of his Parka are on display at the Airport.

Great response PO1 William "Chip" Nagel; Ill have to look that place up. I know my sister who is a nature photographer went to someplace in Alaska where there were plenty of the and she has some great shots. Ill have to see if that where she went. Thanks.
Just looked on the map, wow! you were way out there in the middle of nowhere! She actually did her eagle photography on the mainland in Homer, AK.
