Thanks TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that on May 17, 1827 future President Andrew Johnson married a shy, quiet, 16-year-old daughter of a shoemaker named Eliza McCardle when he was 18-yaers old.
When I was in Basic training in November 1974 and Fort Leonard Wood we had a soldier in my platoon who married his wife when he was 16 and she was 15. They hailed from Tennessee. In those days draftees still were in the Army and some in my company had been offered prison or the Army. This was the beginning of VOLAR
