Hopefully, this means the consumer will get more comprehensive security definitions. Ideally, Avast will look at AVG's product and take cues to scale back on the feature creep. But probably not. It'll be interesting to see how they leverage this acquisition.

Sadly CPT Zarin N. what is most likely to happen is that they are just going to bring the AVG customers under the Avast umbrella, and it will be one less product on the market. It would be nice if they evaluated both products determined the best features of each, and created a super A/V software. Unfortunately, I have seen what happens when mergers occur. It usually is about a year of poor service before they figure out what direction the new company should go.
