It's been stated in other places that it wouldn't have been so bad if they approached it incrementally as opposed to going whole hog at once. They could've started with SF to Sacramento or LA to SD, at most Sacramento to Bakersfield to get it started and get the infrastructure locked in and correct. Alas, the Pork Barrel effect strikes again. It's no wonder that I'm starting to see proposals to split California into two seprate states

I just went to a military conference in California where we had field grade officers from all over the country and one from Texas told me that thousands are moving to Texas because of the high taxes of California. This will continue it seems until California gets their head out of the fifth point of contact and quits taxing and spending its people to death!

Stupid governor of California and the pothead Sanctuary city and state legislature first bending us over with the fake carbon tax fraud and now this extra expense on our gasoline. Give it up, governor! Japan has a dense population and we do not! You are just getting us out of bankruptcy and now you want this stupid ego project? If I want to go see a train like this, I go to Disneyland or Japan!
