Okay, let's examine that. The slave works for the master and, in exchange, the master provides all - food, shelter, clothing, medical care (can't have the slaves just dying, they're too valuable). Granted, the food, shelter, clothing, et all that the master provides is of the meanest sort (but then isn't the same true under socialism?) Compare slaves to the "citizens" of the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Cuba, and Venezuela where "citizens" have eaten the animals in the zoo and now fight over scraps in the trash while their masters (oops, socialist leaders) live and dine in opulence. And keep in mind that fences and armed guards (such as the infamous Iron Curtain and Berlin Wall) weren't created to protect socialism from outsiders. They were built and armed to prevent "citizens" from escaping Utopia. Socialism and slavery sure seem the same to me...
