I agree. It is very nice and convenient how the internet has changed our lives, but I do think some of it is getting a little carried away. Businesses must evolve to stay competitive and survive. I personally hate to see some stores close that there is just no substitute for the experience of walking around in, making a decision, or spending time in with others.

God help us if we go to war with China. No Walmart, Target, Auto parts store chains, Michaels, Dollar Tree, or Amazon.com...all will go bankrupt very quickly.

Most our big companies don't want any tension with China, our entire industrial base depends on their cheap labor. Soon even what we thought of as US companies will have a larger market in China than they do in the US. So whose side will they be on?

SSG (Join to see) LTC (Join to see) AI is killing call center jobs by the 100,000s. The IVR, chatbots with natural language query will remove any need to have people, just a handful of personnel to control and update the scripting used in these technologies. The retail centers will be Kiosk based and temporary only as needed.
The next five years will be more change than the last 20 years.

LTC (Join to see) A quasi-daughter-in-law sells houses in “Newport Coast”, CA. (50 miles South of Los Angeles), The asking price for one of the houses is, “7,000,000”. All of the prospective buyers are Asian!

One might say Asia sells a lot of merchandise to America. One might also say Asia is using their profits to buy America!

Yes, an economist PBS NewsHour was telling the financial reporter that since China joined the World Trade Organization, real estate prices on the west coast have skyrocketed and he mentioned that half the students at University of California Irvine are from China!
