Blockbuster is still Around (Just Barely) Sears Canada died the 1st week of January 2018. Is Sears USA next? It is sad and exciting on how the Internet has changed things as we knew them.
Video killed the Radio Star, Netflix, Hulu and others killed the Video store. Walmart stores killed Fedco in California who had earlier killed Gemco in the 1980s. Walmart killed most of the Mom and Pop stores. Amazon and the internet have killed most of the brick and mortar stores. China joined the WTO in the 90s. China slave labor made the Chinese rich. Now they(their upper middle class) drive up prices in Hawaii, Vancouver, The West Coast of the USA and the Chinese are now packing our State Colleges.

I agree. It is very nice and convenient how the internet has changed our lives, but I do think some of it is getting a little carried away. Businesses must evolve to stay competitive and survive. I personally hate to see some stores close that there is just no substitute for the experience of walking around in, making a decision, or spending time in with others.

God help us if we go to war with China. No Walmart, Target, Auto parts store chains, Michaels, Dollar Tree, or Amazon.com...all will go bankrupt very quickly.

Most our big companies don't want any tension with China, our entire industrial base depends on their cheap labor. Soon even what we thought of as US companies will have a larger market in China than they do in the US. So whose side will they be on?

Yes, an economist PBS NewsHour was telling the financial reporter that since China joined the World Trade Organization, real estate prices on the west coast have skyrocketed and he mentioned that half the students at University of California Irvine are from China!
