Are we alone? The question is worthy of serious scientific study

If I was a betting man, I'd bet there is life out there somewhere. I believe we are in a relatively young galaxy so based on the Drake equation (calcuates the likelihood of intelligent life and our ability to make contact), I'm comfortable in saying that we are probably not the most advanced.

But has anyone been around long enough to cross the vast distances... maybe, but that is beyond my ability to comprehend; and its probably a one way trip for an organic life form.

I highly doubt it....We would be pompous to think we are the only life forms of a humanoid/standup type.....
