Army: 82nd Airborne soldier killed in motorcycle crash

A soldier from the 82nd Airborne Division has died after a motorcycle accident in Fayetteville, North Carolina, officials announced Sunday.
Spc. Jesus Rios died after the single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning. The accident is under investigation by local law enforcement officials.
Rios, 22, was from Oklahoma. He was an automated logistical specialist assigned to the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of a valued member of our team," said Lt. Col. Shane Finison, commander of 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, in a statement. "Spc. Rios was a stellar trooper. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."
Rios joined the Army in June 2013, training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Fort Lee, Virginia. He had been stationed at Fort Bragg and assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division since November 2013.
He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from August to December 2014.
Rios' awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

That is sad news SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL that SPC Jesus Rios died after the single-vehicle crash. I hope that he was an organ donor. My father had a heart transplant in 1992 because somebody who matched him died in a motorcycle accident.
While this is a tragic event I hope much good can from it in terms of awareness of safety and hopefully organs donated.
Prayers for the family and friends of 22-year old SPC Jesus Rios.

LTC Stephen F., this is the reason the residents at the hospital refer to them as "donorcycles". I was fortunate enough to have survived until I parked mine for good; I loved speed too much.
