Army chief OKs earbuds in the gym while in uniform

I don't mind. But we are just losing our discipline. Uniform discipline.

I think in the gym it is fine. There's no danger in the gym and the ear phones won't cause a distraction. I don't think we should wear them while running out on the streets. People have been killed doing that. I even think you should be allowed to wear them during the run for the APFT as long as your on a track. At the end of the day I never went to a post gym in PT's to begin with so I was always wearing headphones.

I personally think that while I (and I'm sure many others) would love to be able to run around outside with ear-buds (especially during an APFT), I honestly think that it would have a rather unprofessional appearance. I realize there would be stipulations ... for example, only on closed run routes, not in formation, only black or white colored ear buds, only black arm sleeve cases for phones, etc. At the end of the day, I really don't think it would look professional and I think Soldiers/NCOs/Officers would abuse it one way or another. Just my personal opinion.
